On Sunday, September 11, 2016 we observe the feast of our parish’s patron saint , St. Cyprian of Carthage, bishop and martyr. Service begins at 10:30 am. Our guest preacher will be the Rev. Canon Stephen Fields of the Diocese of Toronto, the Anglican Church of Canada. Please join us!

On August 14, 2016, from 3:oo pm to 4:30 pm, St. Cyprian’s will host a forum to discuss the diocese’s draft Mission Strategy document. This meeting will be a conversation seeking the input of parish members on the mission direction of the diocese for the next three years. This is the second meeting on this topic at St. Cyprian’s. The Silvertones of Barbados

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Barbados’ independence, St. Cyprian’s will host a concert by the Silvertones of Barbados on July 24, 2016 at 4:00 PM. This ensemble is a high energy “Gospel Group” with incredible chemistry, sweet vocal harmonies, musical drive and nice stage presence. Traditional gospel songs mixed with modern up-tempo rhythms of reggae, calypso and soca, builds instant energy, and infects the audience with the rhythms of the Caribbean, where they develop an irresistible urge during performances, to get up and stomp their feet, dance, clap and rejoice.

St. Cyprian’s will be joining its partners—St. Augustine-St. Martin and St. Mary’s—for a morning of worship and celebration at Franklin Park (Pierpoint Road off of Circuit Drive). The three partners have created a mission hub—Roxbury-Dorchester Power in Community—an outreach ministry supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts.

Worship will begin at 10:00 am. Following the worship service, there will be picnic with games, food, and fellowship.

Directions:

From Mattapan Square: drive up Blue Hill Avenue (Rte 28) towards downtown, pass Franklin Field and Talbot Ave on your right. Go through light at edge of park (intersection with American Legion Highway) and stay on Blue Hill Ave. Next light at Columbia Road intersection, turn left into the park.

From Roxbury and Grove Hall: Take Blue Hill Avenue, through the light at Seaver Street. At next light turn right into the park. Once on Circuit Drive, (the road that goes through the park) drive to Pierpoint Road and take a right onto Pierpoint and continue to the park area.

The 10:30 am Sung Eucharist will not be celebrated at St. Cyprian’s on the 12th.

Change of Location – ECW Event

The Episcopal Church Women’s event — “Divine High Tea Party”– scheduled for May 14, 2016 has had a change of venue. The event will now take place in the Edrick Bain Church Hall, St. Cyprian’s Church. If you have tickets for the event, please take note of this change.

St. Cyprian’s invites you to the 2016 Good Friday Sacred Concert. This Good Friday tradition has been part of our community’s Holy Week observance for generations. The occasion brings together the young and old, parishioners and friends of the parish for a time of shared devotion. Here is the flyer announcement. Tickets are not needed. A collection will be taken up to support the ministry of the Choir.
