This next Wednesday, March 1, 2017 marks the beginning of Lent. We will be celebrating Ash Wednesday at 7:00 am with a said Eucharist and the imposition of ashes. As is our parish custom, we will celebrate a Wednesday morning said Eucharist throughout the lenten season at 7:00 am. We expect the service to conclude around 7:30 am. Please do join us. Our parish along with several of our neighbors will be observing an ecumenical evening service on Wednesdays at various parishes throughout our area. United Lenten Devotions – 2017

This year, we will be using the theme, “Father, forgive them” from Jesus’s last words on the cross as found in the Gospel according to Luke. We will be using the texts to provide opportunity to reflect on the places that we need to be reconciled to God and to each other and the ways that we are called to work for reconciliation in the world around us. Please join us!

Choral Evening Prayer

Evensong is a traditional Anglican liturgical celebration that joins music with the prayers of the close of day. This service will be one of the events marking the transition from the season of Epiphany to that of lenten preparation. Please join us for this service.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast. The Breakfast will be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, 415 Summer Street, Boston on Monday, January 16, 2017 starting at 8:00 AM. The 2017 keynote speaker will be Ms. Callie Crossley, producer of the Blackside Inc.’s “Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years”. A full description of the event can be found here. This year we are offering an “early bird” special: tickets purchased by December 18th will be $45.00 per ticket. Christmas Season Worship

Sunday, December 18th:
- Sunday morning – Sermon and Holy Communion at 10:30 AM.
- Sunday evening – Ceremony of Nine Lessons and Carols at 6:00 PM.
Sunday, December 25th:
- Sung Eucharist at 9:30 AM. As Christmas falls on a Sunday, we will not have a Christmas Eve service.
New Year’s Day, January 1st:
- Sunday morning – Sermon and Holy Communion at 9:30 AM. (There will not be a Watch Night New Year’s Eve service.)

Dr. Bruce A. Jackson
November 22nd, 2016 | Posted by in Uncategorized - (Comments Off on Dr. Bruce A. Jackson)It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Bruce A. Jackson on November 17, 2016. Dr. Jackson was a longtime member of the St. Cyprian Church family. At the time of his passing he was a member of the parish vestry. During his many years at St. Cyprian’s he served in a number of its ministries from chairing the Men’s Fellowship to serving on the Rector’s Search Committee. He was born in New Haven, CT where he received his early education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Houston, a master’s degree in Genetics from UC, Davis, another master’s degree in Molecular Biology from Brandeis University and his doctorate in Biochemistry from UMass-Lowell. He did post-doctoral work at BU’s School of Medicine. At the time of his death, he was Head of the Biotechnology Programs at Massachusetts Bay Community College. He was awarded many honors including receiving a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, Engineering Mentoring from President Obama at the White House in January 2011.
A memorial service will be held at St. Cyprian’s on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Please join us in celebrating the life and work of Dr. Bruce A. Jackson.
Thanksgiving Day Brunch at St. Cyprian’s

This event is a traditional “all the fixings” holiday celebration meal held for our friends and neighbors in Roxbury. The event is open to all and is without charge. Co-hosting the 2016 event are St. Cyprian’s Roxbury-Dorchester Mission Hub Church partners: St. Augustine – St. Martin, St. John – St. James, St. Mark, and St. Mary’s. Please join us!
Gospel Choir – Steel Band Concert for Fall 2016 cancelled
November 7th, 2016 | Posted by in Uncategorized - (Comments Off on Gospel Choir – Steel Band Concert for Fall 2016 cancelled)The music program at St. Cyprian’s is currently undergoing a reorganization with Mr. Brian Edwards, music director, assuming the directorship of the gospel choir. In light of the reorganization, this year’s Fall joint Gospel Choir – Steel Band Concert has been cancelled. A joint concert, however, is being planned for the spring. Please check back in the new year for further information about the spring concert!
St. Cyprian’s is sponsoring a “Dutch Party” October 29th from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm! For a donation of $15.00 you get to sample a bit from the evening’s menu: Rice and Peas, Beef Stew, Chicken, Fish, Salad, etc. After the sample, it’a all ala carte! Here is the flyer for the evening.
